Recently there was a huge controversy flared up when Press Council of India's Chief gave a statement that Indian media is deliberately trying to mislead the nation. Nothing can be truth than that. This has been proved by a recent example where the leading news channel CNN-IBN fakes a live debate and declares apology the next day when their act is caught, to prevent a law suit. These are paid media being run for the benefit of their political bosses, to mislead nation in discrediting a honest individual, and projecting dishonest individuals as if they are the only saviors left for the nation to look forward to. I had great respect for Rajdeep Sardesai once, now I have none.
Sagarika Ghose's Face the Nation show (from now on it will be known as Fake The Nation), had a live debate panel of four guest. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was one of them. But what was different in this debate was that all the rest three guest were present Live during the debate, whereas Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was not present Live but the clippings of his recorded one-to-one meeting were aired. The one-to-one meeting was recorded at 3PM that day and the Live debate show was at 10PM. Sagarika Ghose, the shameless character, was posing questions to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar as if he was present live. The whole debate was on the topic of "Should spiritual leaders stay away from anti-graft movement?" which was related to Sri Sri's yatra in UP on solving corruption through spirutialism & satsang. Now you arrange a debate centered on that person and his presence is faked, obviously then he cannot defend the counter arguments in the conversation. And that is what happened. The debate was one sided and the Chief Guest i.e. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was not present to defend himself, and finally the host, i.e. Sagarika Ghose concluded that Sri Sri's actions are indeed leading to people like Digvijay raising allegations of his RSS links.
Now this is not a small issue whose chapter can be closed by one apology. This was a well orchestrated act to discredit an honest individual, maligning his public image and destroying his support and his efforts. There is no second thought that congress forces has been behind this, as election season is going on in UP and congress is taking anti-corruption movement as a personal war and trying to crush anyone who raises a voice against it, even if there was no mention of Congress in the process. Such is the desperation and fear of Congress leaders that they get psyched-up even on the mention of anti-corruption.
The other angle of motive of this debate seems to also discredit the role of spiritual leaders in the society. Spiritual leaders are playing important role in the society to maintain peace and balance in one's life and how an individual should live a righteous life. They are mainly focused on this area, and I personally consider it the most important role if anyone can play. Because you can create n number of rules, laws and regulations and create n number of law enforcement organizations. You will not have a peaceful society unless you do not have a population which leads a righteous life. You will not have a peaceful society unless you do not have a population which is spiritually motivated than the one which is materially motivated. Though it's an idealistic scenario, practically you will not have a society completely righteous and spiritually motivated, thus a balance of two is required. Instead of understanding this important aspect of role of spiritual leader the other panelists in the debate are arguing why babas & swamis don't fight corruption on ground, why don't they go to courts, why don't they create political parties and fight elections, they are cowards and fearful. What was disgusting about the debate was how it was engineered to convey a certain message to the nation that spiritualism is fraud, especially hindu spiritual leaders, so stop following there teachings, stop believing them. Can you imagine what dual agenda the political bosses achieved through this fake debate? One they discredited Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for coming to UP with an anti-corruption rally during a political season. Second they discredited spiritual leaders, by questioning their role, who actually are really working in bringing back order into the society.
Many are not aware of the fact that there are foreign hidden forces working in our nation to marginalize the hindu community and make them feel ashamed of their culture and tradition. One such mention is in the book called "Breaking India" - by Rajiv Malhotra. I will post details about it in a separate post.
